First 48 hours

We went in to the Cristus Santa Rosa Hospital at 5:00 am on the morning of 10/21/08. Bridget was calm as a clam and I was as nervous as usual. The nurses (Cindy & Anna were awesome) got Bridget hooked up to IVs and they started the pain train around 6:30am. All went very well until the contractions were too strong and way too close so Bridget requested an epidural (about 4 hours later than I would have!). From then on Bridget was able to rest and get ready for the HUGE finale. William Scott was born at 5:59 pm surrounded by the wonderful hospital nursing staff, Dr. Gilderneck and his two proud and terrified parents. He weighed 7 pounds 11 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long. We were surrounded by our wonderfully supportive family and they were so patient to let us go through everything on our own.

We spent a long night in the hospital trying to figure out what to do with our new addition. We learned all sorts of super valuable tips on how to take care of Will. He was so good! He nursed great almost immediately. We were able to actually get a little sleep over the night, but certainly were not what you would call rested. We kind of made the decision that we were going to bust free as soon as they said we could that night and sure enough the next morning we got word that as long as everything checked out for Will and Bridget we could leave later Wednesday. Dr. Snyder examined Will, circumsized him and told us that everything was a ok and that we could leave. We packed our gear and headed out of the hospital around 4:30 pm on 10/22/08. Will was home ruling the roost right at 24 hours after being born!

The first night at home was great! Will was fantastic and ate, slept and dirtied diapers all night. He really did good and let Bridget and I get almost 5 hours of sleep, all added together of course. We woke up refreshed and charged for a full day home at last with our baby boy! The day was great and followed more of the same as the night before. Nana came down to bring him a different bed to sleep in because the pack and play made it hard for Bridget to watch Will during the night. After Joyce left Will took a long nap. Tonight we plan to give him his first bath!

We truly appreciate all the love and support that we have received from our many friends and family. We love all you and are so happy that we can share this time with you all!

The bath went great!! Will really seemed to enjoy it. We set him on the counter in the kitchen and he just stared at the water and hardly cried at all.
